VISIBILITY
- We continue to develop a pro-active approach to working with the media. This year our athletes have been featured in Vogue, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Rolling Stone, New York Times magazine, People, Teen People, Women's Sport and Fitness, The Today Show, Later Today, NBC Nightly News, along with other national media placements.
MEDALS
Preparations for the USA Gymnastics Congress 2000 are in full swing. This issue highlights many of the lecture topics, invited speakers and exhibitors, in order to give you an idea of what is planned for this year's Congress. The hotel room blocks are selling out quickly so if you have not yet made your arrangements you might want to do so.
- The Women's Team won seven medals, including three gold, two silver and one bronze, at the Pacific Alliance Championships.
- The Men's Team won five medals at the Pacific Alliance Championships, including two gold and three silver.
- The Rhythmic Team was also successful at the Pacific Alliance winning a total of five medals, including four silver and one bronze.
- The Trampoline and Tumbling Program achieved success as well at the Olympic Test event with Jennifer Parilla placing sixth in trampoline (fourth among the Olympians).
The 2000 U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Gymnastics tickets are selling at a strong and steady pace. The gymnastics community has done a tremendous job supporting the event. In fact, the lower two sections are completely full with only the upper level still remaining. If you still need to purchase tickets to the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Gymnastics there are seats still available call 617-624-1805.
The USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner will occur on Saturday, August 19 at 8:00 p.m. at the Westin Hotel. This prestigious function will honor outstanding coaches, athletes and contributors and will conclude with the induction of new members to the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, which is the greatest achievement that USA Gymnastics can bestow.
