The Men's Program will present the following awards at the Congress in August:
Sports Person of the Year Voted on by athletes at U.S. Championships
Athlete of the Year Blaine Wilson
Service Star Award Hal FreyIII. Competition Selections
A. Argentina all paid sometime in the fall, will participate and select after Championships.
B. Grand Prix of El Salvador December 17-19, Blaine Wilson invited.
C. International Championships of Egypt October 5-8, not participating.IV. MPC Meeting at Congress
Will be scheduled on Tuesday, August 18 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.V. OTC Application
Approved for David Kruse for a three-month period.VI. 1998 Junior Pan American Team
The Junior Olympic Staff selected the following athletes: Brett McClure, Paul Hamm, Jamie Houle and Zach Roberts.
Coaches will be Stacy Maloney and his assistant coach from the
Swiss Turners.VII. 1998 Senior Pacific Alliance Team
Three team spots were locked by the selection competition. These athletes were Blaine Wilson, John Roethlisberger and Chris Young. The coaches selected Sean Townsend, David Kruse and Yewki Tomita to fill in the remaining spots. The fifth competing team member would be selected by the team coach prior to the competition. The coaches would be Head Coach Yoichi Tomita and Assistant Coach Kevin Mazeika.MotionTim Daggett

Passed 6-0VIII. 1999 Pan Am Games
Coaching selections for the Pan Am Games, World Championships and Olympic Games should be done well in advance. Discussion of keeping a main figure in appearance as the person in charge of team USA. Ron Galimore and Peter Kormann will be at these competitions. Selection for the team coaches for Worlds will be discussed at the next MPC meeting. The 1999 Pan Am Games coaches will be Head Coach Mark Williams and Assistant Coach Randy Jepson.MotionTim Daggett

Individuals not currently members of the national team, but selected to compete in U.S. team events, may be added to the national team in an unranked position. The two All-Around gymnasts will be Blaine Wilson and Sean Townsend. Individual events will have FX-Townsend, PH-Yewki Tomita, SR-Wilson and Chris LaMorte, V-Chris Young, PB-Wilson and Trent Wells, HB-Young.The mixed pairs will have Wilson, Jay Thornton, Chainey Umphrey and David Kruse. Alternate-Jamie Natalie.
