I. Roll Call

Meeting called to order at 4:00 p.m. CST by Chair Marc Yancey.

II. Selection of the Jr. Pan American Team

The Junior National Staff requested the MPC review their team selection process for the Junior Pan Am Games. Their selection process included a review of the 1998 Junior Nationals results since it was the closest competition to the Pan Am Games. This could then include some individuals who were currently not on the Junior National Team since the National Team was picked at the 1997 U. S. National Championships. Discussion involved the dilemma of the Class III National Team member who was moving up to Junior Elite II level but had not yet made the new national team. Also there were individuals who competed very well at Junior Nationals but were not currently on the Junior Elite I or II teams.

PASSED 6-0

Any age-eligible Junior Elite Class I or II, who placed in the top 12 All-Around at the 1998 Junior Nationals, may be considered for selection as a U. S. team participant in an international competition for the period of time between the Junior Nationals and the U.S. Championships. Non-national team members selected to compete for the U.S. will be placed on the National Team, unranked, until the U. S. Championships. Actual team member selection would be done through the Junior National Staff and their selection organization.
