General Gymnastics Advisory Panel (GGAP)

The minutes from June 11 were APPROVED.III. Congress Preparations
Laznovsky presented an agenda of items developed during her time working in the national office.
1. Handouts for GG Congress Sessions
- What is GG? Philosophy paper from the Las Vegas Workshop.
- Introduction to Group Choreography Holte's paper on training.
- GG Update Color brochures and the latest GG Update.
2. GG Congress Booth
- Set-up will be on Thursday morning.
- The booth will be managed by Capelotti and Laznovsky. Other volunteers included Moskovitz and Kermit and Jean Davis.
- The worker schedule was determined
- Laznovsky needs bio information for all groups doing displays in the Exhibition Hall performance area.
3. All-Indiana Performance at the John Hancock U.S. Gymnastics Championships
Whitlock reported that over 300 people will be involved in the two GG performances that will open the Friday and Saturday evening competitions. Paula Lord is the choreographer and production director.
- GGAP members were assigned tasks to assist in coordinating the All-Indiana performances and the schedule of activities.
IV. National GymFest Preparations
Whitlock and Laznovsky reported on the preparations for the National GymFest. Laznovsky has been keeping all registration information up-to-date. Whitlock has been working with Cheryl Jarrett (GAT Coordinator) regarding physical needs, schedules, transportation and so forth. Capelotti will remain in the national office for three days after Congress to determine the performance schedule.Other National GymFest concerns:
- Laznovsky needs notification of all items that need to be shipped to Austin shipping will take place during the week after Congress. Laznovsky will coordinate this with Daron Motley.
- It was suggested that the Panel create an "event bag" for GG events. Laznovsky and Moskovitz will prepare a list of important items.
- Whitlock reported on the updated National GymFest/Workshop schedule.
A motion to investigate the creation of award banners for GG events was approved.V. TeamGymn
Moskovitz was charged with preparing TeamGymn scoring forms.
Laznovsky and Whitlock are soliciting National GymFest groups to participate in the TeamGymn demonstrations.VI. World Gymnaestrada Preparations
- Gallahue-Lee will prepare a media packet for groups who want assistance. This will include a sample announcement for group presentations.
- Laznovsky will prepare a survey of the groups concerning their equipment needs to be submitted to the WG/OC.
- International Sports Exchange continues to work with groups regarding their travel and accommodation needs.
- Meetings will be arranged for WG Group Leaders during the National GymFest.
- The GGAP agreed that a 1999 pre-event meeting for Group Leaders and Staff be conducted date and location TBD.
VII. International GG Calendar of Events
GGAP will recommend groups to attend various international events. Whitlock has started preparing an international GG calendar.The FIG regulations for foreign group participations need to be emphasized and communicated. (These may be found in the GG R&P).
VIII. New Business
The GGAP discussed the following areas:
- Promotion of GG membership programs (professional and team)
- KidFests
- GG Youth Camps
- GG Instructor training
- GG National Schedules for 1999-2003 where do we want to conduct events? How can we better promote and support our events? etc.
IX. GG Camp Sacramento, 1999
Discussion regarding the proposed GG Camp in Sacramento focused on the following:
- schedule, site, promotion, staff, WG/Youth Camp people, costs, equipment, program content, etc.
The meeting concluded at 9:30 p.m.
