Call For Nominations For Alternate Positions For The Athlete's Advisory Council
At the 1997 John Hancock U.S. Gymnastics Championships, the alternate positions to the USA Gymnastics Athlete's Advisory Council for men and women's gymnastics will be elected. Current members of the Senior National Team vote for these positions within their discipline (i.e., Women's National Team members vote for the women's alternate, and so forth).
The election for the men's alternate will be August 16 and the election for the women's alternate will be August 17.
Any one who is a current member of the Senior National Team or has been a member of the Senior National Team within ten years of the election date is eligible to stand for election to the Athlete's Advisory Council. As an alternate on the Council, you may be called upon to attend the AAC or USA Gymnastics Board of Directors meetings if a permanent member of the AAC in your discipline is not able to attend. You may also be involved periodically in conference calls or called upon in other ways to assist the work of the AAC.
Alternates are elected and serve one year terms.
Those wishing to run for these positions should submit their name to Julie Bejin in the USA Gymnastics Office (317-237-5050). Applicants are requested to send or fax (317-237-5069) a letter of interest and attach a one page statement of why you are interested in serving as an alternate on the AAC and a biography of your career in gymnastics and your present occupation, if you are no longer a member of the National Team.
Applications are due by August 1, 1997.
