423-974-9635 or 423-974-9637John Roethlisberger, from the University of Minnesota, leads the men's compulsory competition at the 1996 Coca-Cola National Gymnastics Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., at the Thompson-Boling Arena.
Roethlisberger said, "Winning another National Championships title would be great but the priority is to hit routines. This is only six of 24 routines necessary to make the Olympic Team."
Ohio State University's Blaine Wilson finished second in the all-around and said, "After my first two routines I felt very confident and tried to put it in cruise control. I'm excited for tomorrow."
The men conclude the event with optional competition on Thursday, June 6. The top 14 men, with compulsory and optional scores combined, will make up the Men's Senior National Team and will advance to the U.S. Olympic Trials-Gymnastics, June 25-30, in Boston, Mass.
The senior women compete compulsories tonight at 7:30.
