BEIJING, Aug. 19, 2008 - Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas, won the gold and silver medals, respectively, on the balance beam, and Jonathan Horton of Houston claimed the silver medal on horizontal bar during the final day of gymnastics at the National Indoor Stadium at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The USA finished the Olympic Games with 10 gymnastics medals - two gold, six silver and two bronze - the most in a non-boycotted Olympic Games.

Liukin and China’s He Kexin both posted scores of 16.725, but He was awarded the gold medal over Liukin due to a tiebreaker based on deductions. BEIJING, Aug. 12, 2008 - The U.S. Olympic Team for men’s gymnastics won the team bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games, held at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. The U.S. men finished with a total score of 275.850 to win their second consecutive Olympic team medal after claiming silver in 2004. China won the gold medal with 286.125 points with Japan taking second at 278.875 points. Hamm, who broke the fourth metacarpal on his right hand at the Visa Championships, petitioned to the men’s Olympic team because he was unable to compete in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics. KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 1, 2008 - Erin Blanchard of Lafayette, La., and Chris Estrada of Colorado Springs, Colo., were nominated to the U.S. Olympic Trampoline Team, pending U.S. Olympic Committee approval, at the conclusion of the final selection event in Kansas City, Mo. Blanchard and Estrada finished first for the women and men, respectively, in the Olympic Selection Points Rankings to earn the nominations to the U.S. Olympic Team.

Johnson, Liukin nominated to 2008 U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team -
PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 22, 2008 – Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas, automatically qualified for nomination to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team following the conclusion of the women’s competition at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Ten women were also selected to attend a final selection camp on July 16-20, where the balance of the squad will be nominated to the U.S. Olympic Team pending approval from the U.S. Olympic Committee.
USA Gymnastics finalizes 2008 U.S. Olympic Men's Gymnastics Team -
PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 22, 2008 – USA Gymnastics today announced the six men and three replacement athletes it will nominate to the U.S. Olympic Committee to comprise the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men’s Gymnastics Team. Paul Hamm of Waukesha, Wis., and Jonathan Horton of Houston were named yesterday at the conclusion of the men's competition at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics in Philadelphia, and the balance were selected by the men's selection committee.
