Personal Info
At the 2008 Visa Championships, Sacramone won her fourth consecutive U.S. vault title. At the 2007 World
Championships, Sacramone helped the U.S. women claim just the second world team gold medal in history and the
first won at a World Championships held outside of the United States. She also claimed the silver medal on floor
exercise, adding to her 2005 world crown, and earned the bronze medal on vault, her third on the apparatus (a
bronze in 2005 and silver in 2006). Sacramone now has seven career world medals, including two gold, three silver
and two bronze. Sacramone is the first U.S. woman to win vault world medals since 1989. Sacramone was named
USA Gymnastics Sportsperson of the Year for the women for three consecutive years (2005-07). In 2005, she
became the U.S. national champion on vault and floor exercise. Her 9.9 for her finals floor routine at the 2005 Visa
Championships was the first time a score of 9.9 or better had been awarded in the women’s division at a U.S.
nationals since 1996. In 2004, she qualified for the World Cup Final as a wild card after placing first on vault at the
Pacific Alliance Championships and second at the World Cup in Ghent, Belgium. She went on to win the vault gold
medal at the World Cup Final ahead of the reigning Olympic gold and bronze medalists. Sacramone, a sophomore
at Brown University, competed on Brown’s gymnastics team as a freshman. She took off the Spring 2008 semester
to focus on training. Sacramone is the daughter of Fred, an orthodontist, and Gail, a salon owner. She has one
older brother, Jonathan (10/17/82). She is interested in becoming a fashion designer. She says her parents are her
role models because they have taught her that hard work brings rewards.
