The 2007 Visa Championships will determine the national champion for men’s and women’s artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. The artistic gymnastics will be held at HP Pavilion at San Jose and rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics are tentatively set for the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this prestigious competition. Volunteers will be notified with their assignments to confirm availability. Completion of this application does not guarantee a volunteer position.
Positions and a brief job description:
Equipment Crew: Assist with unloading, set-up, carpeting, takedown and loading of the gymnastics podium and equipment. It is suggested that each crew member bring work gloves and wear comfortable, unrestricted clothing. A select group of volunteers with gymnastics equipment experience will be used to assist with equipment change over’s (Men’s equipment to Women’s equipment and vice versa) during training and competition sessions. Please note that set-up usually takes 6 to 8 hours depending on the number of volunteers. Tear down usually takes between 3 to 4 hours.
Production Volunteers: Assist with a variety of tasks in coordination with event operations. The following positions require varying degrees of gymnastics experience: floor managers, scoring assistants, staging assistants, announcer assistant, music assistant, radio program assistant, NBC TV assistants, scoring distribution runners and marketing assistants.
Youth Production Volunteers: Youth volunteers must be at least 12 years of age or older. Youth volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks in coordination with event ceremonies and operations. The following are the youth positions required: opening ceremonies, squad leaders, scoring runners and the awards team.
Media Volunteers: Assist with media operations in the media workroom, media quote takers & web assistants. All of these positions require some gymnastics knowledge and some media experience.
Delegation Services Volunteers: Assist with participant registration, accreditation and hospitality. These volunteers also include the airport welcome team. Delegation Services volunteers will be in direct contact with participants, so friendly, polite, fun personalities are needed for these positions. Gymnastics experience is not required.
Rhythmic/Acrobatic Volunteers: Assist with event production of the rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics competition at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
