USA/Ukraine combined team wins gold medal in International 3-on-3 Championships
March 7, 1999 - A combined team of Alexander Beresch (UKR), Jessica Howard (USA), and Viktoria Karpenko (UKR) won the gold medal of the 1999 International 3-on-3 Gymnastics Championships held today in St. Petersburg, Fla. Jennie Thompson, Blaine Wilson win Visa American Cup titles
March 6, 1999 - Americans Jennie Thompson and Blaine Wilson won the women's and men's titles respectively at the 1999 Visa American Cup held at the Bayfront Arena in St. Petersburg, Fla. This is Wilson's third consecutive Visa American Cup title. In the women's competition, the silver and bronze medals were won by Russian Elena Produnova and American Vanessa Atler. In the men's competition, American Jason Gatson and Bulgarian Jordan Jovchev claimed the silver and bronze medals. Defending Visa American Cup champion Viktoria Karpenko finished in fourth place. Atler dominates women's all-around prelims at the 1999 Visa American Cup
March 5, 1999 - USA's Vanessa Atler topped the preliminary field at the 1999 Visa American Cup, scoring more than half a point over the rest of the field. Atler took three of the four event titles, with American Jennie Thompson claiming the bars title. In second all-around is defending champion Viktoria Karpenko, Ukraine, with Italian Adriana Crisci claiming third overall. Jason Gatson, USA, takes first in all-around preliminaries
March 4, 1999 - Jason Gatson, who trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, claimed first place in the men's all-around preliminaries at the Visa American Cup held in St. Petersburg, FL. He also claimed the gold medal on floor exercise. Jordan Jovtchev, who competes for Bulgaria and coaches at Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, OK, took second in the all-around and won the pommel horse event title. Russian Alexsei Bondarenko used his first place finish on parallel bars to claim third in the all-around qualifying. The Visa American Cup competition is the most prestigious international meet held in the United States. The competition will include athletes from approximately 15 countries. The preliminary round for the men will be held on Thursday evening with the women's preliminary round to be held on Friday evening. Saturday's event will be finals for both men and women. On Sunday, March 7, trios consisting of a male, female and a rhythmic gymnast will compete in a unique elimination style event. Live scores will be posted during all sessions.
