USA takes three golds, one silver in International Team Championships

Senior Women: Team USA, led by Maloney, cruises to the gold medal
Team USA led through every rotation of the senior women's division to win the gold medal by 1.325 points. Kristen Maloney led the USA women and all athletes in individual scores, amassing a 38.912 all-around total, including 9.80s on both beam and floor. Romania took the silver medal, edging out China by a slim .337 points. Ling Jie of China had the second highest individual score, 38.000. Chinese Junior Women's Team
Team China wins Junior Women's title; USA's Postell tallies top individual score
Team China won vault, bars, and beam to take the Junior Women's title at the 1998 International Team Championships. Led by consistent performances from Peng Sha and Xu Jing, who earned identical individual totals, the Chinese lost floor to the USA junior women's team by less than one tenth of a point. Eleven-year-old Ashley Postell, USA, scored the highest individual total of all competitors, a 37.325 which included 9.40s on bars and floor. Senior Men: Team USA, led by Wilson, clinches second gold medal
The USA Senior men's team, led by two-time USA National Champion Blaine Wilson, ran away with the gold medal in the competition this evening, repeating the team result from earlier in the day by the USA junior men. Wilson totaled the highest individual score of all athletes. China, the reigning world champion, was second to the U.S. team by a margin of 2.45 points. Romania took third place. Junior Men: Team USA takes the gold medal, China wins silver
The USA Junior men's team, led by Brett McClure, won the gold medal in the competition this afternoon by a margin of 1.75 points. China took the silver medal, with Xing Aowei totalling the high individual all-around score. Romania took third place, after briefly leading the competition.
