Lindsay Wing, from Cypress Academy, won the 1997 Senior International title at the U.S. Classic, by a wide margin of 1.275 points. "I did not expect to do so well," stated Wing, shaking her head in disbelief.
The U.S. Classic, held at the Hec Edmundson Pavilion at the University of Washington, served as a warm-up meet for many gymnasts preparing for the John
Hancock U.S. Gymnastics Championships, just three weeks away (Aug 13-16).
"I have a lot of new skills that I have competed only once, or not at all. I wanted to get some experience for Championships. Bars was best for me today,
because my dismount has been giving me problems, and I worked through that and made some
improvement."

Kristin Thome, also from Cypress Academy, claimed the Junior International
title. In addition to first and third place in the senior division, Cypress placed five girls among the top eight in the junior division!

Kristal Uzelac, Rachel Tidd, and
Nikki Beyschau won the Children,
Junior, and Senior divisions in Friday's competition at the
National Gymnastics Festival. The National Gymnastics Festival is a championship
competition for gymnasts at the national elite level. The top gymnasts qualify to the
National Training Squad.

Event Finals deliver four new gold medalists: Ashley Postell, Cory Fritzinger, Jeanette Antolin, and Jeana Rice.
