Results from the second session of optionals

Vanessa Atler, with a 76.425 two-day total, wins the junior national title! Her teammate, Jamie Dantzscher, scores the highest optional total of day two, with a score of 38.225 (which includes a fall from beam on her side somersault). Three other gymnasts scored over 38 points on day two: Alexis Brion (2nd), Elise Ray (3rd), and Kelly Parkinson (4th).

Results from the first session of optionals

Currently in the lead is Vanessa Atler, from Gliders, with a score of 38.575. In second is Alexis Brion, from Gymstrada (38.150) and third is Kelly Parkinson, from Cypress (37.875).

The top sixteen gymnasts after tomorrow's second round of optionals, at 2 p.m. EST, will be on the National team.

Quick Numbers

The top 16 gymnasts will make the National Team.
This level does not have event finals.

Competition Format

 Women's Junior International gymnasts will compete two rounds of optional competition. These two rounds will be added together with equal weighting to determine All-Around rank order.

Qualification

 Athletes qualified to Championships from either the American Classic, in February 1996, or the U.S. Classic, in May 1996.
