Gymnastics World of Broadview Heights, Ohio raised more than $25,500, the most of any club this year, for its local Children's Miracle Network hospital. For its efforts, Gymnastics World and its owners, Ron and Joan Ganim, received an AAI vault table valued at $3,332. In 2007, Gymnastics World hosted a cartwheel-a-thon to raise money and used the online giving Web site to enhance their fundraising efforts.
John Macready and John Roethlisberger's Flip Fest, a summer gymnastics camp in Crossville, Tenn., raised $10,000 for Children’s Miracle Network – the second most of any club in the U.S. They incorporated the Tyson Fitness Challenge exercises and nutrition content into the camp programming and sold custom made Tyson Fitness Challenge T-shirts.
Geddert's Twistars USA in Dimondale, Mich. finished third in the fundraising efforts for clubs, raising more than $7,300. They used the Tyson Fitness Challenge on National Gymnastics Day by hosting a cartwheel-a-thon.
Garden State Gymnastics Training Center, Inc from Forked River, N.J. incorporated the Tyson Fitness Challenge exercises into their two and a half hour mini-camps throughout the summer.
GYMNASTICS ETC from Sulphur, La. hosted a Cartwheel-a-thon on August 4 2007. Gymnasts collected donations / pledges for the number of cartwheels they did and afterwards, they had a National Gymnastics Day party with hot dogs, drinks, balloons and free gym time. Their club raised more than $1,500 for Children’s Miracle Network.
Mpact Martial Arts and Gymnastics from Brentwood, Tenn. hosted the Tyson Fitness Challenge eight-session program during their summer camps June 4-August 3rd, 2007. Their club raised more than $2,200 for Children’s Miracle Network.
Sonshine Academy of Conway, Ark. incorporated the Tyson Fitness Challenge activities and informational nutritional handouts into their week-long summer camps as well as regular gymnastics classes throughout the course of the summer. Students were also encouraged to participate in the Children's Miracle Network fundraiser through the online giving Web site. Their club raised more than $6,100 and is the host gym for the top individual fundraiser in all of the USA, Andrew Wise, who raised more than $3,700.
Texas Dreams Gymnastics from Houston, Texas incorporated the Tyson Fitness Challenge into their Summer Six-Pack Camps. There were three classes offered each Friday for eight weeks beginning in June. Texas Dreams worked with local elementary schools to get more participation in the Tyson Fitness Challenge and in total, they raised more than $4,500 for Children’s Miracle Network through the online giving Web site.
Parkettes Gymnastics in Arlington, Pa. incorporated the Tyson Fitness Challenge exercises into their summer classes. They also made a club donation of $500 to Children’s Miracle Network as a personal effort to help children in their community.
Champions Gymnastics in Katy, Texas took their team girls for a hospital tour so they could meet some of the children for whom they would be fundraising. Then on National Gymnastics Day, they had a carnival/cartwheel-a-thon and hosted the Tyson Fitness Challenge. Their club raised more than $2,200 for Children’s Miracle Network
TNT Fitness from Jacksonville, Fla. raised $3,600 by incorporating the Tyson Fitness Challenge exercises and nutritional content into their daily fitness classes. As a motivator for raising money, they also took a group of gymnasts from their club on a tour of their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
Central Coast Gymnastics Sports Center, Inc. from San Luis Obispo, Calif. hosted three Family Fitness Nights for the Tyson Fitness Challenge on three Saturdays during the summer months! They involved the family in exercising, learning about nutrition, having fun together, getting fit and raised $500 for Children's Miracle Network.
USA Gymnastics Region VI participated in the fundraising portion of the Tyson Fitness Challenge last year by hosting a live auction during their regional congress, which raised more than $8,200 for Children’s Miracle Network. Thank you Kathy Osberg, Jen Scannell and Kathy Feldmann for organizing that event. In 2008, they are challenging all other USA Gymnastics regions and clubs across the USA to join in the efforts to raise money for this worthy cause!
