Part-Time Girl's Compulsory Coach Needed

Grace Gymnastics Center/Lakewood Family YMCA, of Tacoma, WA, is seeking an experienced individual to become a member of our competitive coaching staff. This individual will primarily work with ourl level 4 compulsory gymnasts, but may also occasionally other compulsory levels and pre-team classes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Part-time in the evenings – 3 to 5 days a week (schedule is flexible)
• Coach pre-competitive & competitive girl’s gymnastics team – primarily level 4
• Attendance at meets two to three weekends a month between October and May
• Attendance at occasional training camps or seminars throughout the year

Minimum Qualifications:
• Prior experience as a competitive coach with knowledge of the USAG Junior Olympic Program – or – at least three years of experience in the USAG J. O. Program as a competitor
• Experience working with school age children
• USAG Safety Certification
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively & have excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate a friendly, courteous, and professional manner in dealing with members

This person will work with our Gymnastics Director in planning and implementing our Gymnastics Program, which will include recruitment, scheduling, team travel, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer/spring/winter camps and clinics. This person will assist in training staff to completely understand the level appropriate skills that are necessary to coach; able to safely spot skills of various levels; to consider the developmental needs and interests of each age level when planning; to be a positive role model for the children; to encourage, challenge and support children as they experience gymnastics; and to create a positive and happy environment for children.

This position requires a minimum of twelve units in education, recreation, psychology, and sociology.
