The Department of Recreational Sports provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members. In addition to the 33 sport clubs, the department offers a wide range of recreational activities and state of the art equipment. 

The Golden Bear Gymnastics (GBG) program offers classes for children 18 months - 18 years and is comprised of over 400 participants. GBG program components include instructional classes, competitive teams, school programs, birthday parties, private lessons, and summer camps. The GBG program is housed in a gymnastics facility including a large training facility and studio gymnasium.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates athletes’ performance and designs instructional opportunities to improve technical and strategic execution based on sound motor learning and bio-mechanical principles.  
• Assumes responsibility for team performance. 
• Develops gymnastic routines for multiple skill levels and coaches on technique. 
• Coaches team at competitive events. 
• Proposes the strategies, goals and objectives for teams on a short and long term basis. 
• Assists Head Coach with the optional team program which provides individualized training at levels 6 to 10. 
• Coordinates payroll each month. 
• Ensures adherence to all governing rules, policies and procedures. 
• Assesses participants' skills and assigns team or activity positions. 
• Evaluates participants and documents progress in coordination with the standards set forth by the head coach and GBRC program 
• Trains and develops Golden Bear staff in liaison with Head Coach.  
• Provides supervision and work direction.

Qualifications: 

• Minimum 5 – 7 years of gymnastics coaching experience at level 4 through 8. 
• Must have specialized knowledge of competitive gymnastics. 
• Must be able to coach beginning to advanced recreational, developmental and competitive level 2- (Elite) gymnastics 
• Previous experience working with age levels specific to an activity. 
• Strong inter-personal, motivational and team leadership and supervision skills to develop and work effectively with sports participants and employees of all ages and abilities. 
• Ability to demonstrate creativity, sound judgment and decision-making, be an effective problem solver, and effective communications abilities, verbally and in writing. 
• Must be able to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check. 

Licenses or certifications: 

• Current USAG Coach Certification. 
• Standard First Aid Training Certification required. 
• Red Cross CPR preferred.

Red River Valley Gymnastics is seeking a Programming Director to manage our competitive and recreational programs. RRVG boasts a 26,000 square foot facility that is fully equipped with state of the art gymnastics and fitness equipment. RRVG services over 800 athletes participating in one of our many programs that include Women’s, Men’s, Pre-Team, Xcel, Acro and All Star Cheer as well as recreational and preschool programs.

The Programming Director is responsible for the programming, coordination and development of RRVG team and recreational programs.
